Individual preferences are respected. One person can have a gentle relaxation massage while the other gets firmer deep tissue work. You do not have to agree on style, and you do not have to talk during the treatment.

The setting does the work. Late afternoon is the sweet spot. The heat eases, the light softens, and you can stay exactly where you are when it ends. Many couples plan dinner on the terrace or a short walk afterwards.

When to book it during your trip

Day one: after the flight and the drive from San José, a massage resets shoulders and backs. It also helps with jet lag if you book in the late afternoon.
Anniversary or honeymoon day: tell us in advance so we can schedule the timing you want.
Mid-trip: especially the day after a long hike, a surf session or a day on a fishing boat.
The final evening: a calm ending to the vacation, with no need to fit another shuttle ride into the day.

Avoid booking a couples massage immediately before an adventure tour. The point is to be unhurried.

Practical preparation

Tell us both of your preferences when you book: pressure, focus areas, any injuries, allergies to oils, and whether you would like the therapist to talk or work quietly.
Choose the space thoughtfully. A shaded terrace with a breeze is ideal. Indoors works well in the heat of the afternoon or during rain. Avoid a spot visible from the street.
Shower before your appointment, particularly after a beach or surf session. Sand and sunscreen do not mix well with massage oils.
Put phones on silent. Two therapists arriving is the moment to disconnect.
Have water nearby and keep the rest of the evening light.

What it costs

Couples massage in this area is generally priced per person. Ours is $75 per person per hour, so a one-hour couples massage is $150 total. A 25% deposit ($37.50) reserves the appointment and the two therapists.

Adding something extra

If friends or family are travelling with you, a couples massage can easily become a group massage, with additional therapists working at the same time or in rotation.

Small things that make it better

Book a day or two ahead in high season. Two therapists need to be free simultaneously.
Ask about sunset timing if you are on the west-facing side of the villa — the light is spectacular.
Tell us if one of you is pregnant, injured or recovering from surgery. Treatments will be adapted.
Skip a heavy lunch before an afternoon session.
