What a couples massage at home looks like

A couples massage means two people are massaged at the same time, in the same room, by two therapists. At a traditional spa this usually happens in a shared treatment room. When we come to you, the "room" is wherever you feel most comfortable – a covered terrace with an ocean view, a quiet corner by the pool or a bedroom with the air conditioning on.

The therapists arrive together, set up two tables side by side, and take a moment to ask each of you about pressure preferences and any areas to focus on or avoid. Each person can choose a different style: one partner can enjoy a gentle relaxation massage while the other gets firmer deep tissue work.

Why book at your accommodation instead of a spa

Privacy is the main reason. There is nobody else in a waiting room and nowhere to drive afterwards. Many couples schedule their massage for late afternoon so they finish around sunset, then stay on the terrace with dinner. Others book first thing in the morning before a beach day.

It is also flexible. If you want to add a third person – for example a friend or family member travelling with you – we can usually send an extra therapist. For larger parties, see group massage in Jaco.

Pricing for couples

Pricing is per person: $75 per hour per person, so a one-hour couples massage is $150 in total. A 25% deposit ($37.50 for a one-hour couples booking) reserves your time, and the balance is paid at the appointment.

Tips for a great couples massage

1. Book ahead – two therapists need to be available at the same time, so a day or more of notice helps, especially on weekends and holidays.
2. Choose a calm space – shade and a little breeze are ideal outdoors; indoors, turn the TV off and dim the lights.
3. Shower beforehand if you have been at the beach – sand and sunscreen are not great under massage oil.
4. Avoid heavy sun exposure on the same day if you are already sunburned; let us know and we will adjust the treatment.
5. Stay hydrated afterwards and plan a slow evening.
